30 Nov match rescheduled to 7 December

Please take note that the regular club match that had been scheduled for Sunday, 30 November has been moved to Sunday, 7 December.

There is a good chance that this will be the last regular club match before the holidays and the New Year.

That being said lets finish the year with a bang!

There will be two pistol stages and two 3-gun stages, one Western and another modern, so bring what you have.

The rifle in the Western stage must be a lever, pump, or single shot, using pistol class cartridges or reduced loads, so as not to damage our steel poppers. If you don’t have those kinds of firearms, there will be 30-30 levers and cast loads for folks to use, but it would be appreciate if the ammo was replaced or a donation in equal value made to IDPANL.

Hope to see you there on 7 December.

Match results, Red Rifle Shoot 9 November

The dismal weather broke on Sunday, 9 November and were finally able to hold the third annual Red Rifle Shoot on our regular club match day.

We had a total of 10 competitors, with plenty of Mosin Nagant, SVT-40, SKS, Tokarev and Makarov, and hot borsch to go around.

There were a total of four stages, described as follows:

Better Red than Dead – a close quarters battle (CQB) rifle stage that took up the entirety of Range C.

Pistol Duel – randomly drawn spots in a round robin competition, with two shooters head to head with an array of five steel targets each, first to complete wins

100 yard Rifle – 10 rounds standing, 10 rounds kneeling or sitting

200 yard Team Sniper – randomly drawn two man teams, with 5 rounds each on the same target from a rested position

Full results follow.

Standings           CQB       Pistol Duel     100 yd Rifle      200 yd Team Sniper
First place          M.S.       G.N.                   M.S.                      M.S., G.N.
Second place     L.P.        M.S.                   B.L.                       B.L., C.F.
Third place         C.F.        J.R.                    G.N.                      L.P., J.R.

Prizes included ammunition, a Mosin Nagant spike bayonet, ammo pouches and oilers.

Many thanks to the participants for the help in setting up and tearing down the CQB stage, and especially to D.H. and his companion for the excellent borsch and prizes.

Next year’s Red Rifle shoot will probably aim to coincide with the May 9 Victory Day holiday.

The next regularly scheduled club match day is 30 November.
